November Newsletter

Chers parents,
(My apologies for not getting out a paper copy today.  The photocopier stopped working after the calendars were printed.)

We are looking forward to a fun and safe Halloween.  Students can come in their Halloween costumes on Friday.  We will have un défilé--a parade in the school.  We will enjoy some Halloween songs and a little treat.  We have been studying a little about ourselves and did a, “Des os, il en faut!” “We need bones!” song.  We made some pasta skeletons that will be going home today.  I am sending a toothbrush and note from Saskatoon Health region as well, to remind kids to take care of those bones after Halloween treats!   Today is library exchange day so new library books will be going home in your child’s back pack.  Please remember Thursdays is our day to exchange.  The students enjoy getting new books.

We have also been working on our poster Notre classe.  Our next poster will be a Pow Wow poster.  We will be learning and sharing about Canada and the cultures that make up our country.  For your child’s sharing day your child can either bring something that is a souvenir or photo of a trip in Canada or something from your child’s heritage or cultural background.  We are looking forward to all the learning we will do on this.  Wednesday, November 5th there will be an international/ multi-cultural

potluck for supper at the school.

We have done some Early Years Evaluation assessments and will continue to finish those.  We are also concentrating on alphabet recognition.  A link on the blog called Literacy Center is a great resource for learning the alphabet in French. http://lamagiedelamaternelle2.blogspot.ca

We will be going to the WDM for a program entitled “Noel d’autrefois” “A Christmas Long Ago” on November 14th.  We are needing 4 parent volunteers.  Please let me know if you are able to join us.

Thank you for your support and looking forward to November!  Please check the calendar!

Reminder-- un rappel

Tomorrow is picture day.  We will be getting a class photo and individual photos done.  It is also our book exchange at our library—please return books so your child may take out a new book.  We do not have school on Friday for students or Monday for the Thanksgiving long weekend.  Tuesday we will be wearing blue for blue day!

We are working on these expressions to help us get along:

Excusez-moi; c’est mon espace. (Excuse me this is my space.)

Ô Pardon!  (Oh sorry!)

Est-ce que je peux t’embrasser? (Can I hug you?)

Non, merci. (No thank you.)

MERCI! Joyeuse l’action de grâce!  Happy Thanksgiving!

Mme Wallace

October Newsletter

Le mercredi 1er octobre, 2014

Chers parents,

We have had a wonderful start to the year and fall.  C’est l’automne!  It is hard to believe that a month has gone by and we are into October.  We ended the month with a Terry Fox run, a walk to a Pow Wow, a walk to the library and yesterday we got to experience the beauty of the night sky in the star lab.  What fun!  Thank you to all our parent volunteers who went walking with us on our trips.  We could not have gone without you and we are so grateful for the learning we do on field trips.  MERCI!

We have begun our class poster entitled by the group: Notre classe.  We found words that we have started attaching to the poster and interacting with.  I will post a photo of this on the blog as well.   I will add a link for the poster for audio soon.  We are also working on the alphabet in French and have our resource room teacher, Mme Chartier-Ketilson who is working in small groups with all the students on their alphabet.  M. Tommy our French language monitor has also been working with all French classes and we are fortunate to have him in our school.

This month for your child’s special day we will be sharing: Mon livre préféré/ my favourite book.  I will send home a paper that your child can draw him/herself reading that book.  Your child can bring the book on his or her special day with the sheet in the dossier.  Please check the calendar!

Please note we will also be having special colour days this month.  On the special colour day we will all wear that colour and bring something that can be added to a collage for the class.  Please do not send something that you want back and do not want glued to a paper for display.  It is not necessary that your child has that colour—if he or she does not please do not purchase new clothes.  A close colour is fine.  Please check the calendar for these days as well!   At the end of the month on October 31st Halloween, the children are welcome to wear their costumes but I do ask that no weapons or gory costumes be brought to school.

MERCI!

Today marks the 19th day of school!
